What a crazy coincidence Jul. 4th, 2006 @ 02:17 pm
Brad and I have been feverishly working on our house in preparation for the arrival of his mother who is coming to stay with us at the end of the month. This would account for our lack of social activities. This however does not mean we still don't love you guys and love to hear from you all.

So, the strangest thing happened last night -- Steph, Brad and I have been painting all weekend (mostly Steph and Brad). Last night, after Steph left, Brad and I desperately needed some cheap food. We decided to head to Old Chicago for Happy Hour. We called Steph to offer her a free meal for all her help, but got no reply. We thought about inviting other people, but thought it would be too last minute. Instead, we grabbed a crossword puzzle and headed out. When we got there, as we were being seated we were surprised to find Mike, Karen, and Lisa. They were kind enough to let us join their table and so we did.

After a little while Steph and Matt called to say they were on their way; this was turning out to be quite the social evening and the crossword puzzle was getting no attention.

We were absolutely enjoying ourselves when the next turn of events threw me for a loop. In arrives Dave, Katie, Dan, Ryan and his girlfriend (I'm sorry I can't remember your name :( ) and eventually Jesse, someone else, Marc and Sadie -- my friends.

Now, to be perfectly honest, it didn't bother me in the slightest that we weren't invited. This happens. What bothered me, and I realized it in the car as we left, is that there is someone in that group that has harrassed me about not being invited to things and feeling left out. Someone who is very concious of invitations. Someone that I am most certainly sure would have organized that little get together. That bothers me.

I'm over it, but I thought, hey -- this is what live journal is for, right? To post one's thoughts about events, even minor. Well, those are my thoughts about last night.

Life goes on May. 5th, 2006 @ 04:03 pm
Wow. I was trying to squeeze my glasses just a little bitty tighter and POP. Out came the lens. But with a little caressing and lots of profanity (the glasses are new and were not cheap) back in they popped. Gotta love plastic.

I'm home sick today. Not nearly as sick as I was yesterday, of course. Yesterday was the can't-get-out-of-bed-for-the-whole-day sick. Today is the still-feel-like-crap-but-pretty-much-just-milking-it sick. So what have I done? I re-organized my recipe collection and went through a couple old Cooking Light magazines for new recipes. I ate a popsicle and drank a cup of hot tea. I took the recycling out. I napped. And I wiped some woodwork down with Murphy's Oil Wipes. All in all a good day.

Life in general is quite amazing, actually. I haven't posted in a millennium, so some of you may not know, I'm getting married next October. We decided this March and so far Brad and I have managed to rent the hall -- (The Minneapolis Club), buy and receive the wedding dress, the bridesmaid's dress and the best maid's dress (well, the girls' bought their own dresses), hire a florist (and pretty much pick all the flowers), hire a photographer, almost hire a band, almost write a ceremony, hire music for the ceremony, decide we want a bagpiper, almost finish making save-the-date cards, start and complete our registries (Field's and Williams-Sonoma), and make a website. I'm exhausted just typing it all. Can you tell I like lists :)

In other news thanks to [info]hmauerbauer,[info]davedash,[info]ketiya,[info]gut,Sadie,[info]startseeingsky! They've been helping us rip wallpaper and sand our living room and dining room! This weekend we paint out kitchen!

I suppose that's all for now :) Oh, ring pic coming tonight!

BLUE
BLUES are motivated by INTIMACY, seek opportunities

to genuinely connect with others, and need to

be appreciated. They do everything with

quality and are devoted and loyal friends and

employers/employees. Whatever or whomever

they commit to are their sole (and soul)

focus. They love to serve and will give

freely of themselves in order to nurture

others lives.

BLUES, however, do need to be understood. They have

distinct preferences and occasionally the

somewhat controlling (but always fair)

personality of a confident leader. Their code

of ethics is remarkably strong and they

expect others to live honest, committed lives

as well. They enjoy sharing meaningful

moments in conversation as well as

remembering special life events (i.e.,

birthdays and anniversaries). BLUES are

dependable, thoughtful, nurturing, and can

also be self-righteous, a bit worry-prone,

and emotionally intense. They are like

sainted pit-bulls who never let go of

something once they are committed. When you

deal with a BLUE, be sincere, make an effort

to truly understand them, and truly

appreciate them.

You fit in with:
Humanism

Your ideals mostly resemble that of a Humanist. Although you do not have a lot of faith, you are devoted to making this world better, in the short time that you have to live. Humanists do not generally believe in an afterlife, and therefore, are committed to making the world a better place for themselves and future generations.

20% spiritual.
40% reason-oriented.

» A penny for your thoughts ...
I went to Burger King today for the first time in a long time. I ordered Onion Rings - about halfway through eating them I noticed a "Zesty Onion Ring Dip" in my bag ... Finally something from a fast-food restaurant with zip ... although the Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwich isn't so bad.

Those are my thoughts.

Oh -- want a cosmo or margarita tonight ... stop on by ... but be prepared for serious "American's Next Top Model" watching.
